GRANDMA'S GEL uses Hyaluronan (HA), the all-natural pain blocker, to provide an effective, lasting relief that's more than an illusion. You won't feel heat, you won't feel cold, you'll just feel relief!
HA, Hyaluronic Acid, occurs naturally throughout the body. HA appears to reduce the body's overreaction to injury or trauma. New research shows that HA may be the specific component the body uses to block the process that produces inflammation and pain.
WHAT IS HYALURONAN?
Hyaluronan, or Hyaluronic Acid is biochemically a glycosaminoglycan (such as chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate). They are large complex carbohydrate macromolecules that occur throughout the human body, in the skin, the lubricating fluid of the joints and the interior of the eye. Hyaluronic Acid has recently been approved by the FDA for treatment of arthritis by injection directly into the joint. Hyaluronic Acid is also used as a replacement for the vitreous humour of the eye, and for adhesion prevention post surgery.
Studies have shown that the amount of glycosaminoglycans in the body decreases with age. In the body, Hyaluronic Acid breaks down into glucosamine. New research shows that these compounds may block the molecular process that creates inflammation and pain.
THE ADHESION CASCADE
Pain and inflammation occur when white blood cells in the body move to the site of an injury or condition such as arthritis. This process is called the Adhesion Cascade. Briefly, the Adhesion Cascade is an event where trauma triggers the white blood cells to attach to the blood vessel wall and roll to the site of the trauma. At the site of trauma, the blood vessels allow the cells to go into the affected tissue, and that causes swelling.
The problem is that the body overreacts and sends ALL the white blood cells to the trauma site. Often, it is this swelling from excessive white blood cells which causes the pain.
Hyaluronic Acid binds to a certain receptor (CD44) on the white blood cells and research is suggesting that it inhibits many of the white blood cells from attaching and traveling to the site of pain. Therefore, not too many cells collect at the site -- just enough to initiate healing -- therefore less swelling, and thus, less pain.
IS HYALURONIC ACID SAFE?
HA only blocks one of the receptor sites, the amount of HA available being the key to how many are blocked. There are other compounds that block many different receptors on the white blood cells, resulting in complete inhibition of the white blood cells traveling to the site of trauma, and therefore do not allow healing.
Hyaluronic Acid is not harmful to human skin because it is a completely natural part of the human body. It makes up a majority of the support of the human matrix of mammalian skin and provides the skins flexibility. As people age, or are excessively exposed to the sun, the skin becomes dry and wrinkled due to the loss of HA. This condition can be improved by topical application of hyaluronan in the form of GRANDMA'S GEL.
HOW DOES GRANDMA'S GEL PROVIDE RELIEF?
The Hyaluronic Acid in GRANDMA'S GEL is delivered to the site of the trauma using very specific molecular weights of HA in combination with very low levels of essential oils. The amounts of essential oils are a great deal less than those used in other topical preparations. GRANDMA'S GEL contains no alcohol, no menthol, and no pepper plant extracts like capsaicin. This is why you do not feel a hot or cold sensation when GRANDMA'S GEL is applied.
HOW DO OTHER PRODUCTS TRY TO TREAT PAIN?
Some other products use essential oils in concentrations ranging from 10% to 50% and cause inflammation, which results in localized warmth, which only gives an illusion of pain relief. Still other topical preparations contain alcohol and menthol, which evaporate quickly, giving a cooling and/or numbing sensation, but again, giving only an illusion of pain relief. They can also cause dry skin and irritation. Capsaicin-based pain relief preparations require continued use for several months and work to anaesthetize the skin. Users must be careful to avoid touching mucous membranes or open cuts with these products to avoid severe burning sensations.
WHY ARE THERE SEVERAL FORMS OF GRANDMA'S GEL?
GRANDMA'S GEL Topical Liquid works immediately and can be used for trauma such as insect bites, stings, burns, sunburn, rashes, sprains, etc. It contains: Hyaluronan, Wintergreen Oil, Peppermint Oil, Spearmint Oil, 1, 2-Propanediol, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben and Water.
GRANDMA'S GEL Topical Cream contains two specific molecular weights of HA, one which works immediately, and the other which works over a long period of time, so it can be used for longer lasting relief from muscle aches, arthritis, bursitis, etc. It contains: Hyaluronan, Aloe Vera, Wintergreen Oil, Peppermint Oil and Spearmint Oil incorporated into a cream base and preserved with 1, 2-Propanediol, Methyl Paraben and Propyl Paraben.
GRANDMAS GEL Oral Gel is a formulation of Hyaluronan that does not contain essential oils, but is formulated for maximum absorption. Many find relief by taking the oral form in combination with topical forms of the product. GRANDMAS GEL Oral Gel may be added to food or drink if preferred, and is tasteless. It contains oligomer multiplexes of Hyaluronan formulated for maximum absorption.
