How Grandmas Gel Works Hyaluronic Acid (HA) occurs naturally throughout the body but diminishes with age. New research shows that HA may be the specific component the body uses to block the process that produces inflammation and pain. HA appears to reduce the body's overreaction to injury or trauma.
Pain and inflammation occur when white blood cells in the body move to the site of the injury, a process called The Adhesion Cascade. Research shows that HA binds to some of the white blood cells preventing their overreaction to the injury. Thus, HA appears to reduce the bodys overreaction to injury or trauma by blocking the Adhesion Cascade. Enough white blood cells reach the site for effective healing, but not enough to cause swelling, inflammation and pain. In the body, HA breaks down into glucosamine, providing additional support for joints.
GRANDMAS GEL scientifically combines Hyaluronan (HA) with essential oils, making it a more effective and faster-acting topical pain reliever. Because GRANDMAS GEL is all-natural, it can be used as often as necessary to relieve pain. You can feel it working!
How Other Pain Relievers Work
Pain relief products which contain high concentrations of essential oils create a local inflammation that results in a feeling of warmth and the illusion of pain relief.
Pain relievers that contain alcohol and methanol evaporate quickly, cooling and numbing the area. These products often leave the skin dry or irritated and dont relieve but just mask the pain.
Products with capsaicin require continued use for several weeks before relief is noticed. Also, users must be careful not to touch mucous membranes or open wounds after application to avoid a severe burning sensation. Again, this does not relieve the underlying inflammation and swelling which is the cause of the pain. |
Grandma's Gel for Massage Therapists 1. Grandma's Gel Topical Liquid is an addition to your chosen massage oil/lotion/cream.
2. It is not intended to be the massage oil as it is meant to go through the skin.
3. It is totally natural, containing only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and three essential oils, wintergreen, spearmint and peppermint in minimal amounts, just enough to help the larger HA molecule go through the skin.
4. HA is something that is made in the mammalian body already, but production declines with age. It is believed that introducing HA topically stimulates the body's own production of HA.
5. HA naturally prevents swelling and reduces inflammation. In medical terms, it seems to stop the Adhesion Cascade, the process where excessive numbers of white blood cells all flock to the site of injury. HA allows enough white blood cells to effect healing, but not the massive number that cause pain and swelling.
6. Relief is almost instant, within seconds, and can last for anywhere from 2 - 8 hours.
7. The Topical Liquid is suggested for use in your existing massage medium, and also for clients with 'trauma' or suddenly induced pain such as burns, sunburn, rash, sprains, muscle cramps.
8. Topical Liquid is for instant relief, lasting 2-4 hours.
9. Grandma's Gel Topical Cream is suggested for use during massage, and as an aftercare product for clients with chronic pain from arthritis, bursitis, sciatic pain, etc.
10. Topical Cream has the proper molecular weights of HA for both instant and also for long-lasting relief. It can last from 4 - 8 hours.
11. If a client presents with swelling, Grandma's Gel Topical Liquid is indicated.
12. If a client has deep knots that are so painful that you can't work on them properly, try adding a drop or a spritz of Grandma's Gel Topical Liquid right at the spot.
13. You will find that when you've used Grandma's Gel on your clients, they will have far fewer rebound aches the following day.

Muscle Pain, Working out and Grandma's Gel (Hyaluronan) Grandma's Gel Topical Liquid and Topical Cream work extraordinarily well to reduce post exercise pain, inflammation, cramping and muscle fatigue. The liquid works within seconds. Below are a couple of websites that describe the current thinking about lactic acid and post exercise muscle fatigue, including muscle cramping.
10 Things You Should Know About Lactic Acid by Thomas Fahey, Ed.D., Professor of Exercise Physiology, California State University at Chico http://www.cytosport.com/science/lacticacid.html
Lactic Acid Accumulation From TKD Tutor website http://tkdtutor.com/11Training/LacticAcid.htm
Now for the explanation: It is not the lactic acid that causes the muscle fatigue -- it is the hydrogen ion that upsets the neutral balance of the muscle and makes the environment acidic. HA has carboxy groups (COO-) that normally carry a sodium ion (COO-Na+). However, this sodium ion can be replaced by hydrogen or potassium rapidly. In an environment high in hydrogen ions (H+), the COO-Na+ becomes COO-H+ and the acid environment is neutralized. In an environment with high potassium (cramping) the COO-Na+ becomes COO-K+ and Na+ goes into the muscle to neutralize the high potassium and bring the muscle back to homeostasis. The rubbing also helps a contracted muscle relax. In many cases, an over-extended muscle (after 24-48 hours) has small fibril tears that have to heal. HA can reduce the swelling by its normal process as a natural anti-inflammatory, blocking white blood cell infiltration into the site of trauma. HA is also known to promote healing, so the fibrils will heal faster. There is a new pathway discovered recently explaining how HA reduces pain and inflammation. In this model, HA inhibits the production of bradykinin that causes pain and prostaglandins that cause inflammation. Note that one of the above-cited sites indicates that complex carbohydrates should be consumed after a hard workout. Grandma's Gel contains a complex carbohydrate in concentrated form as HA (Hyaluronic Acid). HA is metabolized to glucosamine which is then converted to glucose that goes through the Krebs' Cycle to produce energy -- and reenergize the body. It can do the same by application to the muscle by topical application.
